Meet at the Ray’s parking lot in McKinleyville at 7:20 am. This trip was so popular at the 2018 spring
Godwit Days festival we decided to add it again for the Fall Preview to give participants that did the spring
trip to compare and contrast with the fall season, right in the middle of prime fall migration! Join long time
“McKinleyvillain” Gary Lester as he leads participants to locations that will feature a varied list of species:
shorebirds at Clam Beach, land bird migrants at some of the “McKinleyville Migrant Traps”, his
spectacular backyard for bird feeder study, and resident land birds at Azalea Reserve. Fall is the prime
time to get an understanding of why McKinleyville is Humboldt County’s “Birdiest City” (even though it’s
technically not a city!)
