The Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary is the jewel in the crown of Humboldt birding. This restored estuary habitat supports ducks, herons, sparrows, chickadees, roosting shorebirds, and many more species. This pre-breakfast trip is planned to catch the dawn chorus in full swing at the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary. Birds are on the move at this time, so there will be plenty of birding action. The willows along the trails house the songbirds and the reed beds support chattering Marsh Wrens. This trip is for everyone and will provide an introduction to the variety of birds at the marsh. Alex is a long time local birder and knows the Arcata Marsh very well. Terrain is mostly flat on maintained trails and there is a porta-potty available. We will not stop for food and there will be opportunity to use a spotting scope if you have one. This event is offered again on Friday, (see event # FR21.)

This event will meet at the Arcata Community Center, out front of the building. Festival headquarters will not be set up there quite yet so just look for others with binoculars and spotting scopes.
