TH01 Dawn Chorus – Arcata Marsh Field Trip 1 – CLASSIC | 2024 | $10
Time - 6:30 am - 8:30 am
Trip Leader(s): Carol Wilson
The Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary is the center of the universe for Humboldt birding, with more species being recorded here than at any other single location in the county. This trip, a “Godwit Days Classic” pre-breakfast outing, is planned to catch the dawn chorus in full swing at the Marsh. Willows along the trails host songbirds and the reed beds support chattering Marsh Wrens. Orange-crowned, Wilson’s and Yellow-rumped Warblers and Common Yellowthroats are in full song, while Song Sparrows sing for mates and re-establish their territories. This trip will provide an introduction to the variety of birds at the Marsh. Terrain is mostly flat on maintained trails. Event repeats Friday (#FR11), Saturday (#SA30), and Sunday (#SU56).

MEETING LOCATION: Interpretive Center parking lot, 569 South G Street
