At the Arcata Marsh, River Otters are the most common mammal to be seen–sometimes daily! In recent years, Cal Poly Wildlife Professor, Dr. Jeff Black, and his students have been intensely studying the daily routines of River Otters at the Marsh and have made many surprising discoveries! Did you know that otters feed on the abundant waterfowl in the fall when all the American Wigeon show up to feed on the duckweed in the treatment marshes? This trip will talk about that, and so many more interesting observations Dr Black and his team have learned over the years while looking for and hopefully seeing the River Otters of the Arcata Marsh!

MEETING LOCATION: Arcata Community Center, Outside front doors
