Potowat Health Village is part of the United Indian Health Services and began in 2001. The grounds have a network of trails and nearly all the vegetation is native, planted when the village was first started. It has grown into an amazing location for birds with many interesting species turning up here in recent years. This includes a Gray Flycatcher that was present during last spring’s Godwit Days. After birding at Potowat, the group will move to Janes Creek Meadows, a newer subdivision bordering Janes Creek that has really nice riparian habitat with easy walking trails along the creek. Many interesting migrants have also shown up at this location in spring and fall migration.

Bird species seen at these locations during April, view here.

MEETING LOCATION: Arcata Community Center Lobby
