Meet outside the front doors of the community center.

The riparian habitat of the Mad River Fish Hatchery and Blue Lake cottonwoods along the Mad River are notorious for hosting neotropical migrants in spring. After a short drive to the town of Blue Lake, we’ll first visit the Hatchery, where restrooms are available. There will be another short drive to visit the Blue Lake cottonwoods. Terrain is mostly flat, and if you wish to bring a lunch, there are picnic tables near the Hatchery parking lot. There is potential for spotting scope use, but it is mostly riparian forest birding.
