The Fay Slough Wildlife Area is 484 acres of previously grazed land that has been restored to coastal and seasonal wetlands and some riparian woodland. Godwit Days has never hosted a trip specifically to this location, so it’s about time to do that! Trails are flat but can have wet vegetation, so wear appropriate footwear. This is a great spot for raptors, waterfowl, and maybe even migrating shorebirds. Open-country songbirds often are easy to see along the trail and some rarities like Lark Bunting, Smith’s Longspur, and Orchard Oriole have been found here. No restrooms available.
MEETING LOCATION: Arcata Community Center Lobby
