Join Russ Namitz, BLM Wildlife Biologist, and Leisyka Parrott, California Coastal National Monument Manager, for a morning of shorebird and seabird viewing. The trip will begin at Russ Ranch Wetlands looking for waterfowl and shorebirds and will end at Lost Coast Headlands, which is managed by BLM, where rare-for-the-coast breeding Oregon Juncos and Yellow-rumped Warblers abide. A trip to the Fleener Creek overlook is also possible to look for seabirds. A quarter-mile walk on sand is required to get to the wetland, but otherwise walking is mostly on level ground. Leaders will have extra scopes and binoculars for you to use if needed, but bring a scope if you have one. Restrooms available at Lost Coast Headlands. [NOTE: Russ and Leisyka probably will head to the Eel River Brewery after the trip for lunch and trip attendees are welcome to join them, but no pressure!]

MEETING LOCATION: Arcata Community Center Lobby
