Fall Preview – Birding on the Madaket
Time - 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Trip Leader(s): David Fix
This trip goes out Rain or Shine.
Meet at the foot of C Street in Eureka at the Madakat Plaza at 10:15 a.m. for this event. Birding from the historic Madaket vessel on Humboldt Bay provides a unique view of the large flocks of shorebirds that line the edges of the bay as well as a close-up encounter with harbor seals, sea lions, and possibly river otters. This event is one of our usual Special Events in August and it always sells out so we thought we would offer again for Fall Preview. Look for Brown Pelican, Caspian Tern, Western & Least Sandpipers, Great Blue Heron, Common Murre, loons, grebes, egrets, cormorants, gulls, Osprey, and Peregrine Falcon all while comfortably seated (or you are welcome to stand and move around) and enjoying a beverage from the smallest licensed bar in California aboard the Madaket!
