This event meets at the public boat launch under Highway 255 (Samoa Bridge) in Eureka. This is north of the Adorni Center near the HSU rowing team building. Bring your own kayak or rent one from the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center the day before between 10am-5pm.  Godwit Days Fall Preview is doing it’s first kayak trip! This will be a casual 3-hr paddle past the Marina and Woodley Island to enjoy the local waterbirds like grebes, scoters and cormorants and Charadriiformes like shorebirds, gulls and terns. Paddling on the bay can be very peaceful and with a unique perspective for viewing birds and other wildlife. Flocks of shorebirds that gather along the exposed mudflats on the edge of the bay and island shores often fly low over the water, giving you a close encounter experience on a kayak. Bring a kayak, paddle, and life vest, snacks, and water.
