Join professional bird guide Rob Fowler (Fowlerope Birding Tours) and Godwit Days board member Dave Schumaker on a private all-inclusive birding trip to Lake Almanor at the base of Mount Lassen, California. This three day small group excursion will spend two nights at the historic Bidwell House, a 1901 farmhouse-style Bed & Breakfast near the shore of Lake Almanor and 30.7 miles from Lassen National Park. The group will carpool allowing us to stop at various spots along the way to Lake Almanor/Chester, CA. Rob Fowler will lead the group birding with focus on migrant shorebirds, high elevation forest species and early migrant songbirds. Local Plumas Audubon Society guide David Arsenault will guide a boat tour on Lake Almanor to see nesting grebes up close.

This package includes two nights accommodations, two breakfasts, two sack lunches, two dinners, the boat ride on Lake Almanor and professional bird guides.

The trip departs from Arcata, CA on August 16 and returns August 18 with three full days of birding. Those wishing to stay extra days for the Plumas County Audubon Society’s Grebe Festival (August 18 – 20) can arrange to remain at the Bidwell House. For participants traveling from outside of Humboldt County, we can meet at rendezvous points in Redding or Red Bluff, CA.

Detailed itinerary will be sent upon registration.
