On the Sunday field trip the simple whistle of the Pacific-slope Flycatcher, or the jumbled trill of the Pacific Wren are two of the redwood bird songs focused on in the Arcata Community Forest. While at the Arcata Marsh, the Song Sparrow and chattering Marsh Wren will be heard along with Common Yellowthroats and maybe even singing Black-capped Chickadees. Once started on this skill with David and Kathryn’s help you will definitely finish this workshop with some new bird songs in your vocabulary. Prepare for forest trails, some hills, and flat marsh trails. Port-o-potty’s are available at the Arcata Marsh, Klopp Lake parking lot. [#SA16 offers the Zoom presentation that accompanies this trip, though it is not required.]
