SU22 Slow Birding the V Street Loop | 2022 | $20 – NEW – SOLD OUT
Time - 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Trip Leader(s): Brad Elvert
Meet at the parking area on the east end of the V Street/Old Samoa Road loop (Copy and paste this link into your web browser: https://goo.gl/maps/Y8AMxyyHsrySEKtE6.)
The “V Street Loop,” as it has been known to birders for decades now, has always been a popular birding location. But with recent habitat improvements by CalTrans and increased parking locations, it has become even more popular and more diverse for birds. Many birders have switched from slowly driving the Loop to instead getting out of their vehicles to do some “walking birding.” With the wetland habitat improvements at the east side of the Loop, hope for increased diversity in waterfowl and shorebirds, while enjoying the expected open-country raptors, sparrows, and such for which the location has always been known. While walking the entire Loop to and fro is about 4 miles, expect 2 to 3 miles of total walking. If time remains, the leaders will “call an audible” and go look for birds at other nearby locations.
This event is fully booked.
