The picturesque coastal town of Trinidad is a well-known hotspot for coastal birding and Gary will lead you to all the best-known locations: Elk Head for songbirds and viewing the large murre colonies found on Flatiron and Green Rocks; Trinidad Bay for cormorants and rocky shorebirds; Luffenholtz Beach and Scenic Drive for amazing coastal views and more options for seafaring birds like scoters, loons, and maybe even Marbled Murrelets. Time for a no-host lunch will be flexible; sometime after noon at the Seascape Restaurant at Trinidad Harbor. After lunch, the trip may venture to the Trinidad Museum to view the amazing native plant garden and/or make a quick trip to Clam and Little River State Beaches to view local Snowy Plovers on the way back to Arcata. Restrooms available at various locations.
